Xero to integrate with Microsoft Power BI

Users of the popular cloud-based accounting software Xero are due to receive some impressive tools after the vendor recently announced their integration with the Microsoft Power BI platform.  The announcement which advised of a March release is set to give users the ability to review and analyse their financial data like never before.  Data visualisations for common reports such as P&L, Debtors, Revenue vs Expenses etc. will provide a new insightful way of interacting with your data and provide a platform to easily report and digest what can normally be a fairly mind-numbing report.

Microsoft’s Power BI platform provides interactive reports which provide live statistics of your information.  Rather than a static report, you can drill into each area to reveal further insights into your data and potentially reveal areas of concern or even areas of opportunity.

“Business tools today are smarter and more connected than ever and finally available to the small business sector,” Rod Drury the CEO of Xero commented.

“The Accounting Industry runs on Microsoft Office and we’re delighted to further integrate with Microsoft’s Power BI to give our users easier ways to access and analyse information from Xero and other sources to make smart, informed decisions.”

The announcement is set to increase the adoption of Xero as opposed to other accounting software vendors for many SMBs whom already run their business on the Office 365 platform.  The prospect will enable customers to leverage of their current Office 365 subscriptions and provide a significant value-add proposition for many Microsoft and Xero customers alike.

With the advent of Microsoft ever grown cloud platform, SMBs are now able to take advantage of the big business and big data tools which conventionally would only be available to large corporations.
